| I know we all have a nice twisty road we like to drive on for fun and some times we drive a little aggressive. For me that road is called Brush Trail. It's about 2 miles from my house and winds through a wooded area. It's really smooth and flowing with some nice scenery. Well, Sunday, after going to get some stuff for my lawn in the Z since it was a beautiful fall day I decided to drive down 'my road' at about 3:00 in the afternoon. Then I found my self to be the first person on the scene of a very serious accident ...... let me tell you it's not fun to find a crashed car in the woods ... and, after checking for a pulse on the 2 passenger side occupants, 2 dead people with 2 seriously hurt people who were in the drivers side ..... the girl who survived was screaming from the back seat of the car and the guy driving was seriously messed up .... the 2 people on the passenger side were dead when I arrived ..... I showed up, literally, seconds after the wreck .... I couldn't get the girl in the back out of the car since every time she moved she would scream in pain ..... I held her hand and talked with her for about 15 minutes waiting for emergency services ..... It was one of the worst, most traumatic scenes I have witnessed ..... I couldn't sleep Sunday night and am still haunted by what I saw on that day the news paper version Firefighters work a one-vehicle crash on Brush Trail in Warren Township Sunday afternoon that left two people dead and two others seriously injured. ................................................ SOUTH BEND -- Two people were killed and two hospitalized after a one-vehicle crash on Brush Trail in Warren Township Sunday afternoon. According to a report from the South Bend Police Department, a 21-year-old South Bend man was driving east on Brush Trail, west of Adams Road, at about 3:15 p.m. when he attempted to drive around a curve too quickly and lost control of his car and hit a tree. The driver and a 19-year-old South Bend woman in the left rear seat were taken to Memorial Hospital of South Bend with serious injuries. A 19-year-old South Bend woman sitting in the right rear seat and a man in the front passenger seat, whose age is unknown, died. Police withheld the victims' names pending notification of relatives. Results of a toxicology test, which would show if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, were not known Sunday evening, according to a news release. ................................................. fast forward to today and I haven't slept for more than 2 hours total since the crash but, I do have a little more info: I got a call last night, after a rather nonproductive day of working, from the brother of the female victim. He was sent home, because of his sisters tragic death, from his second tour of duty in Iraq. Driver was 21 years old and engaged to the 19 year old girl who died in the back seat. The front passenger who died was 18 years old and to be the best man at the wedding ..... the girl in the back seat who was seriously injured is 19 and was to be the maid of honor at the wedding they were going to the mall to pick out tuxedos .......................................................................... he also wants me to attend his sisters funeral tomorrow ..... but, I have a feeling he is going to ask me more details about the incident and his sisters condition which has haunted me since ..... it was an extremely gruesome scene that has kept me from sleeping. The last two nights I have only netted about two hours total sleep .... I just sit and stare at the wall, TV, or my daughter sleeping depending on which room I am in ...... and most of the time the TV isn't even on
